As busy as I am, what with all the working wife and mothering I’ve got going on over here, I sometimes feel like maybe I watch too much TV? And then I laugh at myself and stop judging myself because I’m nothing if not master (mistress?) of finding “me time” to watch my shows. Netflix calls it #MomSneak, but honestly, I call it SURVIVAL! I watch shows on my tablet while I’m cooking, while I’m cleaning, while I’m paying the bills, while I’m watching the peanut splash a tub full of water on the bathroom floor, you get the idea. It’s all about multi-tasking, gettin isht done, and making sure I feed my mind and soul while I do ALL THE THINGS!
I’ve been neck deep in GoT for so long, I finally came up for air last week and OMG! So many new things have come to Netflix!
I mean, honestly, now that I’m down to watching Game of Thrones one episode at time like how people used to watch TV in the olden days, I’ve come to really, really appreciate the fact that streaming ALL THE THINGS is the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you Netflix!
So get your #MomSneak on and come binge watch a bunch of shows with me…
Orange is the New Black,
If you haven’t taken the time to watch Season 5, you should. It takes place over the course of 3 or so days, immediately following the events at the end of Season 4, and while some of it goes off the rails for comedic effect, there are deeper themes that are true to why we all love this show in the first place. Most notably, the use of the media to spin events to one side’s favour, the treatment of inmates vs. guards, the real effects of corporate decisions based on profit. Check it out, it’s all very bittersweet.
I have no idea what it’s about, but the trailer kind of reminds me of Weeds, but way more intense, so yeah, this one is on my list.
Keeping Up with the Jonses
I love silly little comedies set in the suburbs, and I watched this one the other day because I love Isla Fisher, but can I tell you how I totally fell in love with Gal Gadot? I haven’t seen Wonder Woman yet (cue gasps…), but Gal is completely badass and adorable at the same time. Also funny. Girl’s got jokes. She’s officially on my favourite actress list now. Watch this movie if you liked True Lies with Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brangelina.
And this list wouldn’t be complete without adding Moana to it.
You might think that I’m recommending this one for the kids, but let me tell you how I’ve watched this like 4 times since it came to Netflix and I’ll admit it, the parts with all the manta rays in it gets me every time! Seriously. I love this movie. 10/10 Moana is the perfect new Disney Princess. And I need me a pet chicken Heihei. He’s the best!
